Obituary for Veda Horton

Veda Woods Horton, daughter of Eulicious (Bub) and Vivian Woods was born on April 16, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She departed this life on Friday, January 18, 2013.Veda received her education in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She also received her certification in childcare with an emphasis on the mentally challenged. She also was partner in Yukels Outdoor Eatery which was an entrepreneurial effort started by herself, her son and La Tanya Cain.She loved children and would care for as many as she could. Veda believed when a baby cried, it must be hungry. Children she watched would be eating rice cereal before the doctors would say. This would ease their crying which made her very happy.Her willing ways to help others and her listening as well as her broad shoulders to cry on will truly be missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memory parents Vivian and Eulicious (Bub) woods, her devoted common law husband Getroy Nevels; two children Andre Woods (La Tanya Cain), Taunya Woods-Harris; adopted son Theodore Wilson and adopted daughter Shirly Ann Robinson; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 adopted grandchildren and 5 adopted great grandchildren; 4 aunts Gloria Woods, Jackie Morgan, Mary Thompkins of Pittsburgh, PA and Charmaine Jefferson of Indianapolis, 3 nieces including her special niece Carmen Pollard and nephew Matthew Pollard and a host of other relatives and friends. Her sister Regina Pollard preceded her in death.
