Obituary for Louise C. Glover

Louise Cornelia GloverSunrise- November 3, 1939 Sunset- June 12, 2016Louise Cornelia Lowry Morris Glover (Weezie) was a loving, caring and delightful person who lit up a room with her vivacious spirit and her laughter, and was always the life of the party. On Sunday, June 12, 2016, at the age of 76, she transitioned to her heavenly home at her residence where she was under the care of her loving husband and family. Louise was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 3, 1939 to Walter J. Lowry (deceased) and Bernice Shellie Lowry Fulton. At an early age, Louise was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Homestead, PA, where she later served as a member of the Hallelujah Gospel Chorus for many years.Louise graduated from Langley High School in 1957. In 1958 she married Gregory A. Morris, Sr., and out of that union had 3 children. Gregory and Louise were amazing parents and raised their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Louise began to work outside of the home and was employed in the mortgage department at Parkvale Savings Bank. During her tenure, she was promoted through the ranks and was offered the bank manager position, but she opted to take a position at the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh. In 1979 Louise continued to use her gift of administration as an Executive Secretary at Alma Illery Health Center, where she was employed until her death. Throughout her career, she always made it her priority to attend the many concerts, events, sports activities and school performances of her children. An accomplished seamstress, she designed and sewed many of their clothes, often dressing her daughters in matching outfits. Louise was an avid bowler and truly enjoyed its fellowship and competition. She was a long time member of the Kings and Queens bowling league, and later became a lifetime member of the National Traveling Bowling League. Several times a year Louise traveled to bowl in tournaments in Cleveland and Youngstown, OH, Detroit, MI, and Buffalo, NY. During her tenure with the NTBL she served as the Benevolent Chairperson from 1995 until 2003, and as the National Secretary from 2004 until 2010. In 1999 she received the “Jesse Dubois Outstanding Service” award for her commitment and dedication. This award is the highest honor bestowed on a NTBL member. Louise was active with service groups and civic organizations and gave back to the community through her work with the J.U.G.S Inc., G & M Club, Wemco, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sweethearts Marching Band, West Mifflin North High School, Homeville Junior High School and Homeville Elementary School. Louise longed for a special fellowship with her Mother and later joined Baptist Temple Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Toussaint K. Hill. She was a member of the Mass choir where she enjoyed singing praises unto her Lord. She loved learning about the Word in Sunday School and hearing the preached Word in worship services. Louise loved to praise God and truly enjoyed the fellowship of the saints. Louise was a member of Baptist Temple, under the pastorship of Rev. Rodney A. Lyde, until her death. In 2004 Louise entered into holy matrimony with Cleveland Glover in Fairfax, VA, and just celebrated 12 years of marriage on June 7th. She proudly became step-mother and step-grandmother to Carmen Davis and Alichia Parker and many grand and great-grandchildren. Lou, as she was affectionately known by her husband, traveled with Cleveland to numerous islands, enjoying cruises throughout the Caribbean. In September 2013 they cruised the Mediterranean, an experience she referred to as “the cruise of a lifetime.”Louise was loved and respected by young and old and absolutely loved and adored children. “Miss Weezie”, as she was known in the neighborhood, was much loved by all of the kids on Maple Street, School Street, Whitaker and beyond. She broke up fights, swatted legs, twisted lips, hugged and kissed away tears, cleaned and bandaged boo-boos, and gave sound advice. She taught her daughters and many other young women how to present themselves in the proper manner as a young lady, and how to be diligent in their work while also taking care of home. Louise, “Weezie”, “Weez”, “TaWeez” will be sorely missed by all of those who were encouraged by her words and her beautiful spirit. Louise leaves to cherish her Mother, Bernice Fulton, Brother Walter Lowry (Jan), Sister, Elizabeth Harris, Sister in Law Denise Owens; Son, Gregory Alden Morris, Jr., (Connie), Daughters, Leah Morris, Esther Sheppard (Paul), Carmen Davis, and Alichia Parker; Grandchildren, Nola Morris, Justin Sheppard, Lamar Davis, Olivia Davis, Sheketta Davis and Shatona McIver; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-friends, bowling buddies, church members and co-workers.
