The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gladys Millender can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Connie M Garrett-Taylor

Gladys is the last tie I have to my Mom and Uncle Bubba. Bernice Garrett and Willie Brown Jr. Gladys went to the same High School in Gasden, Alabama. As my Mom, Bernice Garrett and my Uncle Bubba. I met Gladys in 1978 as we served on the Pittsburgh Public Schools Parent Policy Council, as Parent Representative for Larimer Elementary and Crescent School. We spoke on the phone for hours and always had a good laugh. Gladys, Laura Blair,Betty Parker and myself. I will miss seeing Gladys as I glance over the other side of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
