Obituary for Geraldine L. Lawhorn

Geraldine Louise Lawhorn was born to Joseph and Dorothy Frederick on May 16th, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She attended Dilworth Elementary Grade School where her track record still stands. She also attended Peabody High School where she worked as a researcher at Scaife Hall, while still in HS. After graduating from Peabody HS, Geraldine became a Flight Attendant. She also worked at Duquesne Light Company for several years. Her husband desired and made it possible for her to be a stay at home mom, where she was able to raise her 3 children. Once her children were older she decided to go back to school and she was able to earn her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Missionary Geraldine Lawhorn was a member of Victory Temple Original Church of God for over 50 years. She was an active member of Victory Temple Original Church of God where she served the Lord willingly, selflessly and faithfully. At her local church she was a member of the Missionary Board. She was an active usher for many years. She also sang in the choir, weekly. She was a member of the church's prison ministry. She was also a Sunday school teacher for many years and also served as a Vacation Bible School teacher as well. At the National level, she was the District Missionary for the North East Ohio Pittsburgh District. She also served as a National Usher.

On August 23rd, 2018 at 5 pm surrounded by her family, Geraldine departed this life to be with the Lord. She leaves behind her loving husband of 44 years, Pastor Matthew Lawhorn, her 3 children, Derrell Lawhorn, Tia Ellis-Lawhorn, and Tomeka Lawhorn; three grandchildren, David Lawhorn, London Ellis and Allen White. She also leaves behind two brothers, Joseph Frederick, Ernest Frederick and one sister, Juanita (Nina) Frederick and a loving Aunt, Geraldine Engram, of whom she was named after, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Friends received Friday, August 31st, 2018 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Victory Temple Original Church of God 2824 Graham Blvd Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15235. Funeral Service on Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at 11:00 am at Victory Temple Original Church of God 2824 Graham Blvd Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15235.
