Obituary for Cecil Cooper

Cecil Ransaw Cooper was born in Pittsburgh, PA. on June 1, 1952. His parents were Gladys Walker Harper, Nona Lee Ransaw Cooper and Bradford Cooper. He was raised in a Christian home where he was taught the principals of hard work, good character and integrity. Most of all he was taught the love of Christ. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior early in life. He was baptized in his father's church, Nazareth Baptist Church in Washington, Pa. His mother Nona, was an Elder in the Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church. As a child, Cecil attended his father's church for six months, and his mother's church six months. Sometimes he would attend the Baptist Church then run to the Holiness Church to catch the end of that service, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He worked in J&L Steel for several years before becoming a nurse in 1987. Nursing was his passion. He worked at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh until he began a career in Private Duty Nursing. He enjoyed taking care of others who could no longer take care of themselves. He gave up his nursing career 4 years ago. In 1998, Cecil was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Ann Tedder, after which he became a member of the Shiloh Community Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, PA. He enjoyed singing in the Male Choir. He also was a member of the Shiloh Men's Brotherhood Ministry. In 1999, he attended Community College of Allegheny County, where he became a Computer Help Desk Technician. He worked at Allegheny General Hospital, Echostar and Highmark Blue Cross-Blue Shield in the computer field. Cecil was an old movie buff, loved jazz and traveling to the Caribbean and Mexico. Cecil departed this life on December 23, 2015, after a very lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Lisa Marie Cooper, his step-daughter- Sherri LaRue Davis, brothers, Melvin Cooper (Phyllis), Dwayne Cooper (Myrtle), Ernest Moore and Alex Harper (Barbara). He leaves to mourn his passing, his dedicated wife, Doris Ann Tedder Cooper, Step children, Kelley A. Davis, Shelley L. Davis and Doriane F. Collins. Grandchildren, Jennese R. Council, Cali C. Turner, Jordan T. Davis. Great Grandchildren, Branden S. Battle, Jael C. Powe and Kier D. Hernandez. Also, his siblings, Charles Gary Harper (Juanita), Ivan Wayne Harper (Catherine), Betty Williams Tallon (Anthony), Marval Murray (Randolph). Sister inlaw, Vicki L. Eady, Brother in-law, James E. McCall. Also a host of other family and friends.
