Roy Grayson. Sr.

Roy Grayson, Sr. was born on August 17, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the sixth child of William and Yetta Grayson. Roy grew up in the Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh. There, he developed a love of music and eventually picked up his first guitar. His musical talents led to the formation of the Roy Grayson Trio. He also performed with other bands—including, most recently Coffe’s Love Trane.

When he wasn’t playing music, you could find him gliding under the disco lights of every skating rink from Cleveland to Pittsburgh! In fact, it was through his love of skating that his met his wife Barbara. They were married on October 9, 1981.

Roy loved to spend time with his family eating good food, watching wrestling or scary movies, playing with animals, attending comic cons, going to amusement parks, and making great memories.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents William and Yetta Grayson; his brothers Edward Grayson, William “Bill” Grayson, Richard Grayson, Phillip “Phil” Grayson, and Charles “Chuck” Grayson; and his sisters Marietta Jones, Marie “Sis” Bailey, Catherine Grayson, Gertrude Grayson and Jean Robinson.

Roy leaves behind his loving wife Barbara Grayson; his sons Mario Grayson (Nicole), LaRoy Devon Grayson, Joey Johnson, Laroy Grayson, Jr. (Crystal), and Jermaine Torre Grayson; his brother Albert Grayson (Alison) ; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
