Obituary for Nathaniel J. Alexander Sr.

Nathaniel James Alexander, Sr. was born on November 22, 1932 in Lexington, VA to the late James Alexander and the late Alice Ware. After high school, he joined the Airforce and stayed four years, then went to the Army for two years. He moved to Pittsburgh in 1955, where he was united in marriage in 1960 to Myrtle Harvey for 55 years. To that marriage, he had four children: Josephine Williams, Nathaniel J. Alexander, Jr. (Monica), Kenneth R. Alexander, Sr. (Nena) and Joseph M. Alexander. He also had a foster son James Banks, and raised his late sisters children Phillip Alexander and Belinda Nicole Alexander.He worked as a sheet metal mechanic and special police at the Civic Arena, 3 Rivers Stadium and Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium.Nathaniel came to know the Lord in the early 1960’s at revival with Elder J.H. Stevenson and Elder Florence. For the last eight years, he has attended Faith Center under the late Elder Elijah Thomas. He enjoyed passing out his crosses and papers about the Lord.He was preceded in death by his sister Anna Alexander. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother John Alexander of Newport News, VA along with 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
