Obituary for Michael Broadnax

Affectionately known as "Big Mike" was born March 16, 1959 in Reidsville, N.C. to the late Fred Lee Broadnax and Annie P. (Courts) Broadnax. Michael was the youngest of seven children. Michael attended elementary and middle school in Cascade, VA. He moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1973, where he attended Fifth Avenue High School. Michael went on to work for Pittsburgh Housing Authority for over 25 years until he retired.

Michael married Mochelle Ashby on August 20th, 1977 their union produced a daughter Mikeyla Broadnax and a son Michael Broadnax Jr. He later married Judith Ream Broadnax on August 8th, 1992. Their union produced a daughter Maralin Broadnax.

Michael was a die-hard Patriots fan and....an undercover Steelers fan. He loved to dance, whistle whole tunes and volunteer. He would dress up as Santa every year and help people with special needs. Michael was a very active member in the N/A and A/A programs and he let you know it. He was also a very active member in the church. Michael's truly favorite passion was his family whom he loved wholeheartedly.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife Judith Ream Broadnax; parents Fred and Annie Broadnax; sisters JoAnn E. Arnold of Pittsburgh PA, Willie Mae (Pat) Chapple of Los Angeles, CA and Geraldine D. Broadnax of Goldsboro, NC.

Michael leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory; his children Mikeyla, Michael and Maralin Broadnax; grandchildren Tyler Johnson, Jalen Chapman, Michael Broadnax III, Ava Broadnax, Alevia Thomas, Bella Broadnax, Keylan Thomas and Priya Broadnax; sisters Nancy Pendleton and brother Fred Broadnax Jr. both of Pittsburgh, PA, sister Brenda Petite of Eden, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
