Jay attended Lincoln Elementary School, Reizenstein Middle School, Westinghouse High School, and The Craig House. He earned his general education degree from Connelly Trade School. In 1997, Jay relocated to Wilkinsburg, where he resided for over twenty years.

Jay had a sincere love for God and a firm foundation. He was raised up at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he was baptized at a young age. He participated in weekly family bible Studies, led by Pastor Floyd Palmer, for more than twenty years. he enjoyed weightlifting, and as a teenager, he was known to have the biggest muscles in the neighborhood. He enjoyed nature, music, being around his family and going fishing with his friends, nieces, and nephews. Never married, Jay was a bachelor, and he loved the ladies.

Jay enjoyed frying the fish he caught, which led him to a career in the dietary and food service industry. He was employed at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and Goodwill Industries where he was a cook for the Police Academy. In addition, Jay was a skilled landscaper, and he had his own clientele.
