Obituary for Helen L. Turner

Helen L. Turner passed away suddenly on February 23, 2024 after a two day stay at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland. Born on July 2, 1938 to Margaret Garrison of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. She spent her early years attending Coraopolis School District. In her early twenties, she ventured to New York City to pursue employment. Helen achieved success as a medical transcriptionist, graduated with a bachelor's degree from Empire State College, and also became a certified paralegal through the New School. While in New York York, she was joined by her Mother until death, Helen was a dedicated caregiver and advocate. After retiring early from the Brookdale Medical Center, she returned to Pittsburgh and was employed for many years as a transcriptionist for UPMC. This return home allowed her to become a proud homeowner and to continue a sincere Christian life. As a member of Morningside Church of God in Christ, many years of service were given through various church organizations, Sunday School and teaching were two favorites. Throughout her spiritual journey she maintained a loving relationship with her daughter Janet Turner Mosley (Charles) of Crawford Square. They enjoyed many blessed mother/daughter outings together. She is survived by family members who will truly miss her. A Celebration of Life will be held at Morningside Church of God in Christ. Arrangements are being made by Coston Funeral Home.
