Obituary for Estella Crumb
Estella G. Crumb transitioned peacefully at home on September 16, 2020 in Pittsburgh, PA at the age of 91.
Estella is survived by her children Homer Murdock Jr (Clare), Renita Crumb, Morvay Crumb (Bonita Lopez), Leola Quinerly (Melvin), Nikita Crumb, and Tyrone Crumb; many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Estella is preceded in death by parents Alfred and Estella Murdock; siblings, Annie Howard, Bernice Smith, and Tolby Murdock; her son, Alfred Crumb and daughter Evelyn Louise Crumb.
Estella was born on March 15, 1929 in Mount Meigs, Alabama. Estella and family relocated to New Brighton, Pa following the passing of her mother during her birth. She graduated from New Brighton High, School in 1947. Estella met Homer Crumb and they had 8 children.
Estella worked with the railroad following graduation from high school. She attended Clerical School and then became a presser at a Cleaner’s in Aliquippa. She was a volunteer for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and served as a volunteer foster grandparent. Estella was a member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church and most recently attended church services at K Leroy Irvis Towers.
Estella was known to enjoy playing the odds and could be found playing rounds of bingo, cards, and playing the lottery. She enjoyed people and always had a witty comeback or joke to share. She loved God and her children. She will be missed by all that have met her.
A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday September 23, 2020 at 11 am at Greenwood Cemetery. All are welcome to attend this outdoor service and masks are required. Flowers and condolences may be sent to: Coston Funeral Home 427 Lincoln Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa 15206
