Obituary for Audreyella S. Lassiter

God spake and acted. He sent his Arch Angel to give Audrey her wings, ending her
pain and suffering on this earth. She transitioned into the loving arms of OUR
Heavenly Father on Monday, May 8, 2023 in Marietta, GA.
Audreyella Sandra Lassiter (whom her family affectionately called Sue), was born
on February 16, 1948 to Geraldine (Keeling) Duke and the late Robert Graham in
Pittsburgh, PA. As a young girl, Audrey grew up in Westover, Massachusetts,
Yakota, Japan, Kokomo, IN and Pittsburgh, PA. Her late stepfather, Lebert Duke,
was a career military officer which resulted in Audrey living all over the country
and overseas. Audrey graduated from Peabody High School, June 1966 in
Pittsburgh, PA and she attended Robert Morris College where she took secretarial
classes.
In her adult years, Audrey worked as a clerk at the Homewood Library and as an
operator at Bell Telephone for a few years before moving to Washington DC in
1971 to begin her long career with the Federal Government. She worked for the
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Office of the Secretary and she was
a Telephone Communication Systems specialist for her division in the Department
of Interior. She worked in Washington, D.C. for 11 years and then transferred her
talents in 1982 to the Pittsburgh, PA division of the Department of Interior for the
remainder of her government career. In total, she worked for the U.S.
Government 40 plus years before retiring at the age of 65 from the Department
of Surface Mining.
Audrey was cheerful, upbeat, caring and a trustworthy person. She lived life to
the fullest. A wonderful artist who loved to paint and never found a casino that
she didn't like. Cherished and loved by family and friends; she leaves to honor her
memory: her beloved daughter Liane Godfrey and son-in-law Brian Godfrey, her
beloved mother Geraldine Duke, her loving siblings: Lebert Duke, Darrell Duke
and Gwendolyn Duke. Her 3 grandchildren she doted on: Brian Godfrey Jr,
Brandon Godfrey and Kennadie Godfrey. 2 nephews: Leonard Duke Jr, Jason

Duke, a great-niece Jasmine Duke, a great-nephew Jordan Duke and a host of
cousins and friends. One dear friend in particular is Janice McClain, with whom
Audrey was friends and kindred spirits for 50 plus years. They were truly best
friends.
Family members who preceded Audrey in passing include: her late husband and
true love of her life, Ronald Lassiter (April 2017), her father Robert Graham
(February 1952), her stepfather Major Lebert Duke (June 2002) and her brother
Leonard Duke (June 1988).
God be with you Audrey. Bask forever in His Glory and His Light in the Heavenly
Kingdom.
Amen
