Obituary for Albert "Stonewall" Jackson

Albert “Stonewall” Jackson passed away at Forbes Regional Medical Center in Monroeville, Pennsylvania
on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 after a difficult battle with amyloidosis. He was a fighter and never
complained. Regardless of how ill he was, he was always “fantastic.”

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stonewall lived in Termon Avenue Home until the age of 10. He then
spent many years as a foster child. He attended Westinghouse High School then joined the United
Marine Corps at the age of 18. After a tour of duty in the United States Marines, he relocated to New York
City before settling back in Pittsburgh where he attended Community College of Allegheny County and
became a journeyman in HVAC. He earned a bachelor of science degree in Vocational Education from
the University of Pittsburgh. He retired from two careers, construction/HVAC and Alcoa where his last
position was in machine maintenance. His hobbies included building and remodeling. He could build and
fix almost anything. He had every tool known  to man and laundry day found nails, screws and drill bits in
his pants pockets. His pride and joy was his backyard oasis and his outdoor man cave. Stonewall was
health-conscious and was an avid weightlifter with a core group of like-minded friends. His favorite time of
the year was Christmas where he would put up enough lights to illuminate  the entire street, like the herd
of deer and the musical Christmas tree.

Stonewall never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He mentored
young men in the neighborhood and was a second father to many. His advice for them was never give
up. Lessons can be learned even when you think there is nothing to learn. Believe in yourself and your
abilities. He loved meeting new people and hosting gatherings for friends; his annual cookout (Summer
Soiree) was a “don’t miss” occasion. Stonewall was a 32nd Degree Prince Hall Mason, and was a
passionate advocate for veterans with disabilities.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Dr. Christina Wilds, daughter J. Nicole Rhodes, Esq. (James), son
Sean Jackson, grandchildren Jordan Reese, Shomari Perkins and Miracle Jackson, nieces and nephews,
the Worthy family, Selvin Drive neighbors, a host of extended family and friends, and fur babies Max and
Kitty.

Stonewall will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial contributions are welcomed and should be mailed to the Southwestern Veterans’ Center, 7060
Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15206. Please note “In memory of Albert “Stonewall” Jackson.”
