Dear
Roland:
There are no words that can express my gratitude and appreciation
for the excellent and personalized service you and the staff of
the Coston Funeral Home provided to my family when my father passed
away recently. Thank you for everything – for the phone calls,
caring words, attention to detail, professionalism – I could
go on and on, but just know that I am so grateful.
Isaiah 35:10 states: “And the ransomed of the LORD shall return,
and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads;
they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall
flee away.” May God’s Blessings continue to be upon
you and all of the staff of the Coston Funeral Home.
May He continue to increase and enlarge your opportunities to provide
compassionate and professional bereavement services to area families
in their time of need.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rhonda M. Johnson

Family
and Friends at Coston Funeral Homes, Inc.,
I just wanted to take this time to thank you for all that you did
for my sister, my family and me when my nephew Andre passed away
back on December 3, 2007. From that early morning hour that I picked
up the phone to call Roland, until even now, the outpouring of love
and unwavering support has been amazing. Never once were we “handled”
or treated as mere customers. The love that each of you showed us
is something that cannot be emulated, and our loss, truly was your
loss as well. For these reasons, and so many more, my family and
I will forever be grateful to you all.
Saying farewell for now to someone you love is never easy, especially
when that person is so tragically snatched from you, but you all
made it mush less painful. My nephew looked genuinely beautiful,
as I clearly saw the attention to detail, your dedication to your
craft, and the impeccable emphasis on maintaining his natural look.
I can tell you that your work is something that shows your love
for what you do, and the video memorial that you so delicately prepared,
is something that our family will forever treasure.
I am so glad that God has blessed you with the opening of your second
location on the Northside, because as an overall community we need
compassionate people like you in our time of need. A time that,
unfortunately, is inevitable for everyone. With your first annual
Holiday Remembrance Service, your love and compassion for us as
a community was surely evident. Although I initially felt the service
was too soon after Andre’s transition, it was actually very
cathartic for my sister and me. It provided us the opportunity to
reflect on the absence in our lives of all of those that we love
that have gone on to glory. Thanks so much for taking time out of
your holiday schedule, to make such a difference in all of our lives,
and realizing that the holiday season is when we most feel the loss
of our beloved. I look forward to many years of sharing that service
with you and other people who have lost their loved ones.
As a child growing up in East Liberty, I had the pleasure of meeting
and knowing Mr. Coston, and seeing the wonderful works that he did
for this community. I cannot begin to tell you how much he helped
me when I lost my great-grandmother (Mary Lee) who raised me and
was like my mother. It warms my heart to see how you have taken
the foundation of what he built and carried it into another dimension.
He must be looking down upon you all and smiling as he sees his
legacy is far super-ceding his great expectations. Without a doubt,
you are pioneers and innovators who cannot be paralleled in the
industry. You give back to the community, which is something that
far too many people and establishments have forgotten to do, have
decided against, or just are unaware of the need to do. You truly
are “The Best of the Best”, and I thank God for each
of you.
With undeniable loyalty,
Mrs. Lois West-Griffin
